Why Are Young People Getting Sudden Heart Attacks? - Dr. Praveen MP
Heart Attacks are often associated with older adults, but younger people can also experience serious heart problems. Several risk factors may contribute to cardiovascular disease at a younger age.
*Possible contributing factors include:*
🚬 *Smoking & tobacco use*
Can damage blood vessels and increase cardiovascular risk.
🩸 *High blood pressure*
Often has no obvious symptoms but can gradually affect the heart and blood vessels.
🍬 *Diabetes & high blood sugar*
Can damage blood vessels and increase the risk of heart disease.
🧬 *Family history*
A strong family history of premature heart disease may increase risk.
😴 *Poor sleep & chronic stress*
Long-term sleep problems and ongoing stress can affect overall cardiovascular health.
🍔 *Unhealthy diet & physical inactivity*
Regular consumption of highly processed foods and lack of physical activity can contribute to risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure and excess body weight.
🩺 *Undiagnosed heart or cholesterol problems*
Some conditions may remain unnoticed until symptoms appear.
Can It Be Prevented?
Younger age does *not* completely protect you from heart disease. Knowing your risk factors and getting appropriate health checks can help identify problems early.
✅ Don't smoke or use tobacco
✅ Stay physically active
✅ Choose a balanced diet
✅ Get adequate sleep
✅ Manage stress
✅ Check blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol when appropriate
✅ Seek medical attention for concerning symptoms
*Don't wait for a health problem to become an emergency. Know your heart-health risks early.*
